The Kindergarten Art Show, held on February 14, showcased the incredible creativity of our youngest students. Over the past month, kindergarteners explored the works of various artists, studying different styles and techniques before creating their own masterpieces. Each piece on display reflected their imagination and growth, demonstrating their ability to express themselves through color, shape, and texture.
As a Christian school, we celebrate creativity as a gift from God, who made us in His image as creators. We see His hand at work in the artistic talents of our students, and their artwork beautifully reflects His design and the joy of learning through creation.
Throughout their art unit, kindergarteners studied renowned artists and experimented with a variety of artistic styles. The show featured pieces inspired by Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, Andy Warhol, Georgia O’Keeffe, and others. This hands-on experience allowed students to apply what they had learned, bringing famous works to life in their own unique ways.
PCS Kindergarten teacher Logan Smithers shared her excitement about the event:
“From Picasso and Monet to Warhol and Rodrigue, we learned about a lot of artists and their art! Our kids had the best time being able to actually create art that we showed them in videos, books, and pictures. And for us, seeing their unique take on each piece was fun to watch. We made a lot of art in a month, and we saw so much growth in their abilities to draw, color, and paint from the beginning of the school year to now!”
Students worked on projects inspired by:
- Walter Anderson
- Pablo Picasso
- Jackson Pollock
- Peter Reynolds
- George Rodrigue
- Georges Seurat
- Andy Warhol
- Georgia O’Keeffe
- Claude Monet
One of the highlights of the event was the opportunity for families to see the students’ artistic progression. The Kindergarten Art Show not only celebrated their creativity but also reinforced the importance of art education in fostering imagination, confidence, and fine motor skills.
PCS is proud of its young artists and grateful for the support of families and teachers who encourage their students to be creative! This year’s Kindergarten Art Show was a beautiful reminder of the joy that creativity brings to our school community and a testament to Christ’s inspiration in our lives as the ultimate Creator.
