Our History

Presbyterian Christian School (PCS) has grown from 23 students in 1976 to a leading institution in the Pine Belt, offering Christ-centered education. With a commitment to academic excellence and spiritual development, PCS continually expands its programs and facilities to prepare students to impact the world for Christ. Each milestone reflects the school’s dedication to nurturing faith and fostering lifelong learning.

1976: PCS opened its doors with 23 students, founded with a vision to offer education through a Biblical lens. By 1978, enrollment grew to 55, prompting the need for expansion.
1980s: Portable classrooms were introduced as the school grew to 13 classrooms. During this period, a junior high program was successfully established.
1994 - 1999: PCS added high school grades, reaching K-12 status by 1998 with 635 students. The first graduating class, in 1999, consisted of 11 students.
2000: To address overcrowding, PCS opened a secondary campus on Bonhomie Road, housing grades 7-12 in a new 13-classroom facility.
2009: PCS merged with First Presbyterian Kindergarten to create a unified Christian education system in Hattiesburg. The preschool remains on the Hardy Street campus.
2012: The elementary school moved into a 58,000-square-foot state-of-the-art building, featuring 27 classrooms, labs, a library, music and art rooms, and a discovery lab.
Today: PCS serves nearly 1,000 students in grades K3-12 and employs over 120 faculty and staff. It remains steadfast in its mission to provide education that acknowledges God as Creator and Sustainer.

The mission of PCS is to provide a comprehensive college preparatory education distinguished by a Biblical worldview to equip students with the moral integrity, intellectual capacity, and social conscience to impact the world for Christ.

Our Educational Philosophy

God’s Creation

God created the world good and complete, entrusting humanity, made in His image, with the responsibility to steward and develop it for His glory. This foundation inspires learning in the arts, sciences, and culture.

Role of Parents and Schools

Parents are called to prepare their children for service in God’s Kingdom and society. Christian schools partner with families by integrating Biblical principles into education.

The Fall and Redemption

Sin has corrupted humanity, but through Christ’s redemption, God restores creation. His Word provides the ultimate guide for truth, learning, and life.

Christian education equips students to defend truth, confront falsehood, and apply Biblical principles, preparing them to impact the world for Christ.

What We Believe

The Ultimate Purpose

We believe the purpose of all human endeavor is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. God reveals how to do this through His Word, the Bible, inspired by the Holy Spirit.

The Nature of God

We believe in one true God, eternally existing as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Creation

We believe God created the heavens, the earth, and humanity in His image, giving mankind dominion over creation.

Human Identity

We believe God creates each person as male or female, reflecting His image. Rejecting one’s biological sex is rejecting God’s design.

The Fall

We believe Adam’s sin brought spiritual death, corruption, and suffering to all humanity.

We are committed to equipping students with a Christ-centered education that nurtures their faith, character, and intellect. Our goal is to empower them to live purpose-driven lives and make a positive impact on the world for God’s glory.

Redemption Through Christ

We believe Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man, obeyed God perfectly, died for sin, and rose again. He now intercedes for His people and governs the Church.

Salvation

We believe those who repent and trust in Christ alone are saved and welcomed into God’s family, receiving all its privileges.

Christian Living

We believe Christians, empowered by the Holy Spirit, strive to live according to God’s Word and reflect Christ’s example.

The Church

We believe God established His Church to proclaim the gospel and administer the means of grace to His people.

Christ’s Return

We believe Jesus Christ will return to judge the world, reward His people, and establish a new heaven and earth where His people will reign with Him forever.

70 Acre Campus in Forrest County

Our Forrest County campus hosts Elementary, Secondary, and Athletic facilities. Preschool is hosted at First Presbyterian Church.

We are a fully equipped Apple technology educator. Every faculty member is Apple certified.
