PCS Art Teacher Named FestivalSouth Featured Artist with First Solo Exhibition

PCS is proud to celebrate one of our own! Secondary campus art teacher, Ricardo Moody, has been named the 2025 FestivalSouth Featured Artist; an honor that recognizes outstanding contributions to the arts in our community. His first solo exhibition, YONDER, is currently on view at Prospect Gallery in Downtown Hattiesburg through June 30.

The exhibition explores themes of memory, place, and belonging through a series of paintings that reflect Mr. Moody’s personal reflections and creative vision. He describes YONDER as a visual expression of daydreams and distant thoughts, rooted in Southern identity and the familiar pull of home. “My mind wanders a lot,” he shared, “and I knew when I was creating this series I wanted it to capture the idea of my mind being someplace else. Not in a discontented way—I just daydream a lot!”

The title, YONDER, pays homage to Southern language and culture, while the artwork itself invites viewers to consider how our relationships with objects and places shape our sense of connection and identity.

Mr. Moody’s work will also be featured in a new collection debuting at Caron Gallery in Tupelo and Laurel beginning July 1.

We are incredibly proud of Mr. Moody’s accomplishment and grateful to have such a passionate and talented educator as part of the PCS family. Be sure to visit YONDER at Prospect Gallery before the exhibition closes on June 30!
