Mini Mastery Series Elevates Professional Learning

Presbyterian Christian School’s Secondary campus believes that some of the most powerful learning happens right down the hall, between teacher to teacher.

During the 2024-2025 school year, a need for more meaningful and relevant professional development became evident through staff surveys and teacher feedback. Educators expressed a strong interest in learning practical, classroom-ready strategies.

From that need, the “Mini Mastery Series” was created. This innovative approach to professional development transforms faculty meetings into dynamic learning opportunities. Instead of traditional professional development, teachers lead 15 minute mini professional development sessions, sharing the strategies and tools they are most passionate about using in their own classrooms.

Topics in the Mini Mastery Series have included a wide range of practical and innovative strategies. Sessions have explored how to effectively integrate AI into classroom instruction, introduced the latest instructional technology tools, and provided guidance on organizing and optimizing Google Drive workflows. Teachers have also shared ways to use recorded instruction to differentiate learning and better meet the needs of all students through CANVAS.

This initiative places a strong emphasis on recognizing the expertise already in the building. Teachers serve not only as participants in professional development, but also as leaders, innovators, and mentors to one another.

Each session highlights real classroom practices, making the learning immediately applicable and relevant. Most importantly, it reinforces a core belief that the best experts for classrooms are the teachers!

Sessions from the 2025-2026 school year:

  • Edulastic
  • What is AI?
  • Document Scans
  • Canvas
  • CK 12
  • Differentiation
  • Organizing Google Drive
  • Explain Everything
