Each year, PCS recognizes two outstanding educators—one from the elementary campus and one from the secondary campus—who embody a commitment to excellence in teaching, strong relationships with students, and a passion for learning that extends beyond the classroom.
At the elementary level, the Doris Brown Award for Teaching Excellence honors a teacher who exemplifies the heart, dedication, and creativity of beloved longtime PCS teacher Mrs. Doris Brown.
We are proud to announce our 2024–2025 Teachers of the Year, Presley Walters and Norman Rowe, who were selected by their peers for their exceptional service and impact on our school community.
“The Doris Brown Award for Teaching Excellence is named after a former PCS teacher who led by example in going above and beyond the call of education to make a lasting difference every single day for our students. Mrs. Walters exemplifies this standard at PCS Elementary, and I am thrilled that she was selected by her peers to receive this prestigious honor,” said Elementary Principal Ginny Graham.
Mrs. Walters is known for her creativity in the classroom, her commitment to student growth, and the warmth she brings to everything she does. She leads with joy and purpose, making learning come alive for her students each and every day.
“I was glad to see Mr. Rowe recognized as the Teacher of the Year! He is always prepared for instruction and has wonderful relationships with his students. His love and knowledge of history is evident when passing by his classroom. In addition, Mr. Rowe has done a wonderful job leading our award-winning quiz bowl team! It is always fun to celebrate deserving, dedicated teachers,” shared Secondary Principal Brandi Richardson.
Mr. Rowe’s passion for history, excellence in teaching, and investment in student life have made a lasting impact. Whether in the classroom or coaching academic competitions, he brings energy, expertise, and encouragement to every role he takes on.
Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Walters and Mr. Rowe! We are grateful for their leadership, their love for students, and their faithful commitment to helping equip our students to impact the world for Christ.
