Building Confidence and College Readiness: Schoolwide ACT Day at Presbyterian Christian School

At Presbyterian Christian School, preparing students for college is at the heart of everything we do. One of the most important milestones in that journey is standardized testing, and our recent schoolwide ACT Day provided students with a valuable opportunity to grow, practice, and succeed.

Students in grades 7-9 participated in the Pre ACT (ACT 8/9) to gain early exposure to the testing experience. While the ACT is traditionally taken later in high school, introducing it at a younger age helps remove the fear of the unknown. Students build confidence, develop test-taking strategies, and gain a clear understanding of where they currently stand academically. By the time they officially take the ACT in the 10th grade, they are not walking in unprepared.

For our students in grades 10-12, ACT Day offers a different but equally important experience. Testing on our campus provides a familiar, supportive environment where students can perform at their best. Instead of facing the added stress of an unfamiliar location, our students are able to focus fully on demonstrating their knowledge and abilities.

As a college preparatory school, PCS recognizes that assessments like the ACT and SAT play a critical role in shaping a student’s future. These tests not only open doors to college admissions but also help students develop the discipline, resilience, and academic readiness needed for success beyond high school.

Just as importantly, the data gathered from ACT Day plays a vital role in strengthening our academic program. Faculty and administrators carefully analyze student performance trends to identify areas of growth and opportunity across grade levels and subject areas. This insight directly informs curriculum mapping, instructional planning, and targeted support, ensuring that what happens in the classroom is aligned with both student needs and college readiness standards. By using this data intentionally, we are able to refine our teaching strategies and better prepare each student for future success.

We are proud of our students’ continued achievements. Presbyterian Christian School currently has 18 students who have scored a 30 or above on the ACT, reflecting a strong commitment to academic excellence. We are excited to see these numbers grow once the latest scores arrive in a few weeks.

This summer we are offering an ACT Bootcamp with certified ACT Tutor Mrs. Rhonda Robertson July 6-9, 2026. This camp is open to rising juniors and seniors and space is limited to optimize learning! Registration is now open. At PCS, we don’t just prepare students for a test, we are preparing them for college, for leadership, and for life outside of the classroom walls.
