Presbyterian Christian School is pleased to announce three new administrative hires for the 2024-25 school year.

Brandi Richardson will serve as Assistant Head of School for Development and Secondary Campus Director for PCS. She joins us from Jackson Academy in Jackson, Miss., where she serves as Head of Upper School. Brandi earned her undergraduate degree in political science and Spanish from The University of Alabama and a master’s degree in social sciences from Spring Hill College. She is currently pursuing an additional master’s in educational leadership. Prior to JA, she served as Head of Upper School and Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Cottage Hill Christian Academy in Mobile, Ala., for four years. While at Cottage Hill, she helped improve instruction, increase student expectations, and raise ACT scores. Brandi was also an integral part of seeing enrollment grow 26% over a three-year period. Prior to CHCA, she served as Chair of the Social Sciences Department and an AP instructor at St. Luke’s School in Mobile, while simultaneously working as adjunct instructor for Coastal Alabama Community College. A strong leader and educator, Brandi was named one of Mobile Bay Magazine’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2018. She is known for her strong work ethic, ability to motivate both teachers and students, and for building strong cultures. She is skilled in curriculum development, differentiated instruction, curriculum mapping and textbook alignment, and developing and implementing policies and procedures for the day-to-day operations of secondary schools. PCS Head of School Jimmy Messer, who has worked alongside Brandi in the past, shares, “It’s hard for me to put into words how excited I am to have Brandi join PCS. She is a rockstar among educators, and I’m confident she will be a great addition to our team.”

Coach Guilherme Oliveira de Avila Terra recently announced this will be his last season coaching at PCS. Coach G has done a tremendous job with our boys’ soccer program and is currently leading them through one of the best seasons in school history. He will be joining the coaching staff at William Carey University, and though we hate to see him go, we realize coaching on the collegiate level is a long-time dream of his. Coach G has been a great addition to PCS, and we wish him nothing but the best as he enters this new phase of his coaching career!

Brandon Richardson will also be joining the PCS family from Jackson Academy. He will serve as Dean of Students for the elementary campus as well as oversee athletic advancement and lead our JV/varsity boys’ soccer teams as head coach. In his advancement role, he will handle athletic fundraising and assist with marketing efforts.

Brandon currently teaches middle school, oversees intramural sports, and serves as head JV girls’ soccer coach and assistant for both the boys’ and girls’ varsity teams. While in this role, the varsity girls won the 2023 state championship and were runners-up in 2022. Brandon holds a bachelor’s degree in history and secondary education from The University of South Alabama, and he is currently pursuing a master’s degree from Belhaven University.  

Prior to JA, Brandon served as dean of students and athletic director on the elementary campus at Cottage Hill Christian Academy. He also worked in development and served as head coach for the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams. In 2018, he led the girls’ team to the final four for the first time in school history. They were ranked #2 in 2019. Named Mobile County Coach of the Year in 2019, Coach Richardson is best known for player development and for being intentional in building relationships. “I believe our student athletes and parents will enjoy working with Brandon. He loves students and really wants to see them succeed. He is an extremely hard worker and willing to chip in wherever needed,” Messer said.

He and Brandi have one daughter, Maggie Roe, who will be a Bobcat this fall!

Lastly, Drew Mattison will assume the role of PCS Athletic Director, in which he will focus on the day-to-day operations of the athletic department, including scheduling, game management, budgets, and facility use. Melissa Grace will continue as the administrative assistant for athletics, with Drew Smith assisting with social media and Bandy Grace handling operations of athletics facilities. Drew will remain as assistant baseball coach for JV and varsity teams.

Before joining PCS, Drew served as athletic director and head baseball coach at Lamar Christian School in Purvis from 2015 to 2021. During his tenure, he led a restructuring of department finances, enabling them to be financially self-sufficient. Prior to Lamar Christian, he served as partner and general manager for the Golf Shoppe from 1998 to 2014. He has also been a partner and facility manager for SBG Sox Baseball and P360 Performance Sports since 2014. Drew earned a degree in sports administration with a minor in business from The University of Southern Mississippi.

“I’m excited to see Coach Mattison in this new position,” Messer said. “He brings a servant leader mentality to the role, and he has shown great understanding of who we are and where we want to go athletically and as a school. I believe the combination of his coaching background, playing career, and management experience will be very beneficial to PCS athletics.”

Drew and his wife Nikki, who works in athletics at USM, have one son, Cade, who has signed to play baseball at The University of Memphis.
