5th & 6th Grade Small Group Devotions Grow in Attendance and Impact

What started as a simple idea last year has quickly become a favorite part of the week for many 5th and 6th graders at PCS. During their morning break, students now have the opportunity to gather in small groups for a time of devotion, encouragement, and connection with one another and with God.

The small group initiative began last year with boys’ small groups meeting during break to hear from guest speakers ranging from PCS coaches and teachers to local community leaders. The success of those gatherings inspired the expansion of the program this year to include both boys’ and girls’ groups, and attendance has continued to grow.

The boys’ small group is sponsored by Coach Brandon Richardson, while the girls’ group is led by Mrs. Tanya Choina. Each month, guest speakers visit to share a message grounded in Scripture, often weaving in personal stories and life lessons to inspire and challenge students in their faith.

“This is something I’ve had the privilege of being part of at three different schools,” said Coach Richardson. “Bringing it to PCS and watching the students look forward to these devotion times and learning from so many coaches and community leaders has been incredible to see.”

As the program continues to grow, it’s clear these small groups are making a big impact by building faith, community, and character one break at a time.
