HATTIESBURG, Miss., August 29, 2024 — Presbyterian Christian School has announced it has been accepted for membership by the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) for the 2025-26 academic year based on notification from MHSAA Executive Director Rickey Neaves.

Following months of discussions and focus groups with staff, parents, alumni, and board members, PCS administration believes this is the best move for its student-athletes and their families at this time.

“We are excited to begin this new journey. We believe it is a positive move for our school and athletic teams, and we look forward to building new relationships, creating new rivalries, and being a bigger part of the local community,” said Jimmy Messer, PCS Head of School.

Over 75% of PCS students in grades 7-12th are part of one or more of the 14 athletic teams.

“We are excited about this move to the MHSAA and looking forward to new challenges and competitions for our student-athletes,” said Drew Mattison, PCS Athletic Director. “We appreciate all of the hard work from our families and administrators in making this decision, as well as the MHSAA and its leadership in making the transition as smooth as possible.”

PCS will finish the current year with Midsouth Association of Independent Schools (MAIS). The MHSAA will release classifications and region alignments for the 2025-26 school year in early November.
