Presbyterian Christian School is excited to announce it has joined the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS). SAIS serves to strengthen member schools through the promotion of the highest quality educational standards and ethical conduct.
The largest regional independent school association in the United States, SAIS membership consists of approximately 400 schools, with 175 being Christian schools, including the prominent Christ Presbyterian Academy and The Covenant School in Nashville, Tenn., as well as First Presbyterian Day School in Macon, Ga.
“Membership in the SAIS puts PCS in association with the leading independent schools in the southern United States,” said Dr. Keith Rice, assistant head of school. “Additionally, our school will benefit greatly from the additional resources available through the organization, such as continuing education opportunities.” SAIS provides joint accreditation with the Midsouth Association of Independent Schools (MAIS). There are currently 12 MAIS schools in the SAIS, including several Jackson area schools, Magnolia Heights School, Starkville Academy, and Heritage Academy in Columbus. The PCS Vision Plan will be a large part of the SAIS accreditation process over the next couple of years. SAIS membership will also give PCS access to a wide range of resources to utilize in our evaluation and growth process.
Head of School Jimmy Messer feels membership in the SAIS is part of the journey for PCS to continue providing the best college preparatory education while still ensuring it remains grounded in a Biblical worldview. “This process will push us to elevate ourselves as an institution while helping us remain true to our culture, history, mission and vision. We will continue to evaluate where we are as a school, as well as seek ways to help us move forward,” he said.
