I’d like to start by congratulating our 2023 Star Student, Travis Ashley, and our Star Teacher, Ms. Rhonda Robertson! You both work very hard and make us very proud! Thank you for all you’ve contributed to our school community!
Here’s what’s up this week:
ADMITTED SENIORS: you should be signing up for orientations at your chosen school (many of you have already done so)! Spots are filling up fast! Contact your Admissions reps. for more information!
ADMITTED SENIORS: you should have updated your SCOIR accounts with acceptances, your choice for enrollment, and emailed all scholarship awards you have received thus far to gsanderford@psck12.org . You will not be able to pick you cap & gown if this is not completed.
SOPHOMORES & JUNIORS: please schedule a College & Course Planning Meeting ASAP! We will go over credits and make sure you are on track for graduation, while also selecting courses for next year! We’ll also go over the requirements for the SCOIR platform for managing the college application process. I hope to meet/see each and every one of you over the next two months. Please try to schedule these meetings during study halls, elective periods, lunch, or breaks. You should not be missing a core class to meet with me (Parents are welcome to attend). ANY STUDENT IN AP CLASSES: you will be billed through FACTS for your AP Exam on April 14th. Each exam costs $95.00. If you are taking more than one AP Exam, you will be charged $95.00 for EACH exam (2 exams – $190.00, etc.).
ALL STUDENTS: Friday is the last day for Peanut Butter donations! Get those BETA Club hours and help stock our local food pantries (Beta members: if you would like hours for your donations (3 16 oz jars = 1 hour), deliver your peanut butter to Ms. Robertson’s room with your name attached)!
ALL STUDENTS: Ole Miss is offering a summer workshop on “Writing for the Future: Preparing College & Scholarship Applications” Check it out! This is especially those who want to improve their writing skills and get the inside scoop on Ole Miss!
ALL STUDENTS: Anyone interested in Accounting? USM wants YOU! Listen to this…
As you are likely aware, accounting is one of the most highly-demanded and most versatile college degrees. College students majoring in Accounting have a wide range of excellent job placement opportunities and strong salaries, particularly if they are interested in completing their Master’s degree and obtaining their CPA license.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics is currently projecting the demand for accounting majors to continue increasing by another 7% by the year 2030, so the future is very bright for students pursuing careers in the accounting profession!
The national organization for practicing Certified Public Accountants, the AICPA, has developed its “This Way to CPA” website to provide resources (and scholarship opportunities!) specifically targeted to high school and college students interested in learning more about the accounting profession.
