It’s National School Counselors Week, and Presbyterian Christian School is excited to give a big shout-out to our own school counselor, Ms. Jenny Brock! February 3-7, schools across the country are recognizing the important work school counselors do to help students succeed—both in the classroom and beyond. This week, we’re taking a moment to celebrate Ms. Brock and all the incredible ways she supports our students every day.
Ms. Brock has been an invaluable part of the PCS community this year, offering a listening ear, sound advice, and incredible compassion for students and families. Whether it’s helping students navigate challenges, offering guidance on making good decisions, or simply being a safe space for those who need it, she is always there for students.
Though she is located on the Secondary Campus, Ms. Brock routinely visits the Elementary Campus providing guidance for students and teachers as some of our younger students work through developmental and social challenges. Ms. Brock partners with teachers to suggest age appropriate behavior interventions and regularly visits to observe students as they work with their peers.
“Jenny is more than just our school counselor—she’s a trusted mentor, a problem-solver, and a friend to so many students,” said Mr. Jimmy Messer, Head of School. “Her kindness, expertise, and dedication truly make a difference in the lives of our students, and we’re so grateful for all the work she does.”
From her individual counseling sessions to group activities and school-wide character education initiatives, Ms. Brock is passionate about helping students grow not only academically but also emotionally and socially. Her positive attitude and genuine care make her a great blessing to PCS.
She shares, “As a school counselor, I frequently serve as the primary source of support for students throughout the school day. My emphasis is on assisting students in cultivating healthy social and emotional competencies, such as emotional regulation, fostering positive relationships, conflict resolution, and exhibiting empathy.” She finds joy in her workday and explains, “I appreciate the chance to contribute to students’ growth in their social and emotional learning on a daily basis.”
PCS students and parents alike know they can always count on Ms. Brock for support. Her door is always open, and her warm, welcoming approach helps create a school environment where students feel safe, supported, and encouraged to be their best.
This National School Counselors Week, we’re sending a sincere THANK YOU to Ms. Jenny Brock for her dedication and kind heart!
