NEW HIRE ANNOUNCEMENT: Rob Shillito, Director of Development

August 13, 2021

Dear PCS Family,

Over the past seven months at PCS, much of my time has been dedicated to recruiting and hiring administrators, staff, and teachers. Until this week, we had not hired a Director of Development. Over these months, we have been determined not to settle for less than the best candidate.

We are thrilled to announce that we have hired Mr. Rob Shillito as the new Director of Development, our chief fundraiser for PCS. Rob Shillito is our current Athletic Director, and will remain in this position until May of 2022 or until a qualified, exceptional candidate is secured.

There were many reasons that this transition into the Director of Development role for Mr. Shillito was wise, valuable, and clear:

  • —Mr. Shillito is immersed in our PCS Family and larger community, which creates a sound foundation for relationship development moving forward.
  • —Fundraising and project management have been a major component of Rob’s career since 2012.
  • —As the PCS Athletic Director, Rob has annually raised $250,000 to support PCS athletics teams. Aside from coaches salaries and some facility expenses, Rob is responsible for funding all other expenses incurred by the athletic department. Rob has successfully finished numerous capital campaigns, highlights including the PCS weight room and Wayne Williams Track and Field Complex.
  • —During his two-year tenure as our Athletic Director, PCS Athletic Department sponsorships have increased over 100%.
  • —Rob fully funded the PCS Athletic Department budget throughout 2020-2021 academic year despite all of the cancelled games and the four seasons impacted by COVID-19.

One of the biggest questions I had for Rob throughout the duration of his extensive interview process was this: how would he manage the holistic development needs for our entire school without bias towards athletics (a place that has been his passion and focus for many years)? Rob was persuasive to the interview committee throughout the process that he is able and excited to look at things through a larger lens and looks forward to how his new role will be impactful to the success of our PCS mission. I am radically convinced that he is able to do this. Rob will be a valuable member of our larger administrative team, just as he has been valuable in the administrative role pertaining to athletics.

Lastly, this transition and the timing of transition, creates great opportunity in the form of lead time in order to hire a phenomenal Athletic Director to assume the reigns of our Athletic Department. Rob will continue to serve as Athletic Director until a new hire is made, which gives continuity to our coaching staff and our students throughout each step of this change ahead.

Please join me in praying that the Lord would go before us in selecting the best possible person to fill the Athletic Director position. I would also ask that you join me in continued prayer for Rob and his family, as they continue to invest their lives into the ministry of PCS and our students.

Grace and peace,

Seth Parrish, Ed.D.
